Having grown up in Portland, Oregon and a frequent visitor to the Columbia Gorge, we always pronounced it as Lat-er-ell Falls. Because of the Spelling I wonder if this name is a different origin other than English: Latourell originated in Canada as LaTourelle in the 1600s. It wasn't until the mid 1800s that it was transplanted to Oregon.
