Data cap for xfinity

Long story short, I hit the 1tb data cap last month, and looks like I'm going to hit it again this month. I read that apparently if I use the xfinity wifi hot spot instead, it won't counts towards the data cap. Has anyone tried this with any luck? edit: typos. Archived post.
